This repair procedure helps you to replace the small 15 tooth planetary
gear that drives the odometer and trip meter from the speed sensor. Heat and corrosive lubricant oils cause this gear to deteriorate and fail over the years.
Replacing the gear is relatively simple and no special tools or special skills are needed. However, you must be very careful during the removal and installation of the needle pointer onto its
shaft. If you break the tiny shaft, a new speedometer will be on your shopping list.
