Do-it-yourself repair procedures for 1980 - 1985 Volvo 240 mechanical odometers:
(1) Most
speedodometer repair shops will charge
around $150 to repair the odometer.
(2) You can replace your instrument cluster with a used instrument cluster at a swap meet or salvage yard. You can get a used cluster for around $40 to $80. However, there is no way of knowing whether the used cluster might have the same problem, or how long it might work before it fails due to the age of the components.
(3) You can fix it yourself.
