If your odometer has stopped working
on your BMW 2002, but the speedometer continues to work, you are
experiencing the common 2002 odometer failure. You basically have three
options to restore the odometer to working status:
(1) You can take it
to a speedometer repair shop for repairs. Most repair shops charge
around $150 to repair the problem.
(2) You can replace your instrument cluster
with a used
instrument cluster at a swap meet or salvage yard. The cost should be
considerably less than optionnumber 1. You can
obtain a used cluster for around $40 to $80. However, since this
odometer failure is so common in the BMW2002, there is no way of
knowing whether the used cluster might have the same problem,
or how long it might work before it fails due to the age of
the components.
(3) You can fix it yourself.
